Throughout this course, you will construct a Scholar Practitioner Project which will be a mixed methods research protocol. The protocol will outline a research design including a survey and focus groups. The paper should identify a target population, the research question that the study will investigate, the basic design it will employ, the sampling plan, and a brief discussion of the data collection plan. The paper should include an appendix comprising the survey instrument and focus group moderator’s guide.
You will begin this work in Module 1 and complete in Module 5.
Part 1: Introduction — develop research question and literature review
Part 2: Research Design and Sampling Plan
Part 3: Survey Instrument
Part 4: Focus Group Moderator Guide
Part 5: Final Paper — data integration, social change, and social determinants of health
The Assignment
This is the final portion of your Scholar Practitioner Project. You will pull all of the elements together to make one cohesive paper. Note that you should also review the feedback from your instructor and make edits as needed. The elements of the paper that you have already completed are:
• Part 1: Introduction
• Part 2: Research Design and Sampling Plan
• Part 3: Survey Instrument
• Part 4: Focus Group Moderator Guide
You will also finish your project with a conclusion about integrating quantitative and qualitative data, implications for social change, and addressing the social determinants of health related to your topic.
In Part 5 of the paper, address the following:
• How does using quantitative and qualitative methods together provide a comprehensive set of findings on your topic?
• How would you integrate findings from quantitative and qualitative data collection?
• How would you maximize benefits from quantitative and qualitative methods?
• How can the data collected from quantitative and qualitative methods be used to impact social change?
• Which domains of the social determinants of health can be addressed?
