PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENT:

For a mini-campaign, I would like to focus on the City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity. The organization’s vision is to eliminate the systematic barriers that become apparent in the instance of prosperity and economic progressiveness within the Greater Houston region (City of Houston, 2024). For example, as an economy progresses, the demography may witness financial, healthcare, employment, housing, and digital barriers, which often exist in an intertwined and compounding manner. Correspondingly, the mini campaign that I would design would focus on creating opportunities for local small businesses, especially those created and managed by historically underutilized individuals through social media features and a series of events. The campaign will therefore showcase their success stories by focusing on their innovative products and services, to encourage the local people as well as investors around the city to render their support either financially or through resource accumulation. A major benefit of the campaign will be to generate awareness among the local people to consume the productions of these local businesses and support the local economy in Houston.

The concept of brand awareness refers to the degree to which a brand is known to existing and potential customers and is linked to a set of associations or values in their perception (Blakeman, 2023, p.26). Specifically, the mini-campaign is an attempt to create opportunities for local small businesses, especially those historically led by underutilized owners, by highlighting their success stories through social media features and events. This will garner enough attention from locals to drive them toward spending money with these businesses or mobilizing resources for said businesses by generating brand awareness. In a nutshell, such activities will also promote brand identity in individual businesses and the collective brand of a seething local economy within Houston at large.
