Managing routine and complex health care problems can be even more challenging depending on clinical site demographics, patient health disparities, and cultural influences. Future nurse practitioners who may serve rural, underserved, and high risk populations (such as immigrants, elderly, low income, etc) need targeted preparation to the approach of these populations who may be affected by special clinical problems. The purpose of this assignment will be for students to tie prinicles of social disparities to a hypothetical scenario for a rural or underserved population/individual in relation to a special clinical problem. Scernario: 12 year old Caucasian American female with Down Syndrome and atrioventricular septal defect (AVSD). Mom is 35, single and there are 3 other children in the home all whom are healthy. This is a low income household attached are the instructions for the assignment. Please only complete the introduction, findings, and resource limited considerations portions of this.
